Joint Pain and Massage

Despite seeming to be a simple, straightforward complaint, joint pain can have several different origins. Bodyworkers who are familiar with the five most common causes of joint pain and their respective implications on massage therapy can be especially useful to joint pain riddled clients. Read More...
A Well-Rounded Plan for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Manual release of the carpal tunnel is helpful, but adding other strategies to the mix escalates a practitioner's effectiveness in addressing carpal tunnel syndrome.Read More...
Treating Fibromyalgia with Massage

Most massage therapists and bodyworkers have seen the effects of fibromyalgia on at least some of their clients' bodies and minds. Often unable to find help elsewhere, fibromyalgia sufferers have been known to seek out alternative methods to find lasting pain relief. Understanding the disorder more comprehensively and discovering how massage can be applied to a particular client may benefit all who suffer from it. Read More...
Small Doses: Aromatherapy for Children

For both parent and practitioner, there's often no greater frustration than being unable to soothe a child's pain, especially an infant. A 1-year-old child's cries tell us so much, and yet so little. This is compounded even more when working with expectant mothers and their newborns. Knowing you are able to bring comfort to these families through the simple act of touch is a great feeling. Qigong Massage Reduces Severity of Autism

Qigong massage has been tied to a reduction in the severity of autism among children ages 6 and younger, according to recent research. The study, Qigong Massage Treatment for Sensory and Self-Regulation Problems in Young Children With Autism: A Randomized Controlled Trial,? involved 46 children with autism, between the ages of 3 and 6, who were eligible for early intervention services for autism. The children, 37 boys and nine girls, were randomly assigned to either a Qigong Sensory Training group or a wait-list control group. The researchers define Qigong Sensory Training as a ?qigong massage intervention based in Chinese medicine.? Read More...
